Employment Support Services: Motion [Private Members] (30 Nov 2021)

Matt Carthy: ...1998. It has secured the esteem and goodwill of the wider community. More important, by any matrix or standard, it has proven to be effective when compared to operations such as JobBridge and JobPath, about which you hear terms like "disconnected" and "out of touch" used. You never hear such terms in respect of the Monaghan local employment service because it works. It is a good...

Social Welfare Bill 2020: Second Stage (9 Dec 2020)

Matt Carthy: ...€960 over an eight-week period rather than the original four-week period for those people who are in particularly vulnerable sectors, such as the music and events industry. I support Deputy Kerrane's assertions on the JobPath scheme. It is an absolute scandal. We had this before the Committee of Public Accounts recently. Chapter 4 – Control over Welfare Payments
(12 Nov 2020)

On the basis of the figures Mr. McKeon has given me, assuming that the bulk of those 22,000 are still in employment, it works out a cost of €11,000 per job. Is there any possibility that another route would ensure we could create a greater number of jobs for less than €11,000...

Public Accounts Committee: 2019 Annual Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General and Appropriation Accounts
Vote 37 – Employment Affairs and Social Protection
Chapter 4 – Control over Welfare Payments
(12 Nov 2020)

It was to take people from social welfare payments to job activation. Based on the figures we have been given, €244 million has been spent on the scheme and 22,000 people have been in employment for more than 12 months. That works out at...
