Then we can truly, genuinely start addressing where we went wrong, and it is to be hoped this will never, ever happen again. I thank the Minister of State for his time.

Pat Buckley: ...it I said I would write to my own council. I have put the question to it and I mentioned authorised and unauthorised developments on its section of Waterways Ireland waterways. Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Bus Services (21 Sep 2023)

Pat Buckley: ...to raise this matter for the following reason. People are going on about the carbon footprint. For one thing, there is a carbon footprint in running 13 daily services from Youghal all the way to Cork city and all the way back. I understand many of these services do not run at peak time but the peak services are probably the most important for connectivity. The express route is...

Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Bus Services (21 Sep 2023)

Pat Buckley: ..., for connectivity. It would service Youghal, Killeagh, Castlemartyr and go into Midleton. Unfortunately, the response I got from the NTA was that, building on the work developed as part of the Cork Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy 2040, the park-and-ride design office, PRDO, is carrying out a demand analysis to identify the zones on the main traffic corridors. It goes on to say...

Committee on Key Issues affecting the Traveller Community: Accommodation for Travellers: Discussion (21 Sep 2023)

Pat Buckley: ...of fear, distrust, or is it a lack of education? It is about trying to harmonise things. The Chair referred to the Ombudsman for Children report, No End in Site, on the Spring Lane halting site in Cork. I like the Ombudsman for Children's report because it is brutally honest and raises issues. Many of these issues seem to stem from the lack of trust and education between Departments....

Committee on Public Petitions: Closure of Vital Health Services: Discussion (13 Jul 2023)

Pat Buckley: .... There are also parliamentary questions and you name it, not to mention the petititons. Ms Curtis is right. She mentioned suicides. Between 2000 and 2002, there were 69 suicides in east Cork. There were women aged 63, 54 and 33, and the rest were all male. That indicates the need. There was a 22-bed system, with 20 full-time beds and the two short-term-stay beds. It is a...

Committee on Public Petitions: Closure of Vital Health Services: Discussion (13 Jul 2023)

Pat Buckley: ...You should treat the person, not the problem. That is the issue here, and people outside of this committee should take that on board. As I have said before, we all make mistakes, but we should be brave enough to put up...

Committee on Public Petitions: Decisions on Public Petitions Received (13 Jul 2023)
