My son applied for a loan. It was not refused. However, at the point of approval, it was said to him that he was John McGuinness's son. He had to fill out further pages of an...

Farm and forestry contractors are not exempt and the carbon tax does apply to them. The Government has no plans to adjust the tax or make any budgetary adjustments in this regard but it is certainly working hard to support the farming community and the sector.

I introduced a fodder scheme last year, and like the support schemes for homeowners and families, there were energy supports for farmers. I am applying those supports this year to the sectors that need them the most, in particular the tillage sector, which is under particular pressure. There will also be other supports this year.

...We will engage with the stakeholders group on its concerns, as we would have done up to now. I imagine that the small number of women farmers who do not meet the criteria under this TAM scheme may apply for any of the other TAM schemes. There is grant aid of between 40% and 60% there, including the young farmers scheme. There are about ten schemes available under TAMS that they could...

The fact remains these farmers had met all the criteria regarding eligibility for schemes but they were unable to apply when regulations changed in 2015 regarding the maximum length of time since the farmer commenced farming. In the 2015-2022 CAP programme, a farmer needed to hold payment entitlements to...

Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Social Welfare Offices (25 Apr 2024)

Ruairi Ó Murchú: .... We need to examine this issue. There are hold-ups. As I said, I have multiple examples. It may reduce the scope then for further commitments to be entered into the following year but the control is supposed to apply and it is there for a purpose.
