In her statement around the time of the motion of no confidence in the Garda Commissioner, the Minister said that she discussed the ballot and Garda rosters with him. I would like to know what discussions she had about the Garda rosters because it is a central issue...

Catherine Murphy: ...refuges did not result in access. In almost two thirds of these cases it was because of the lack of available or suitable space. In some cases there might be a space for the woman but not the children. In 2020 An Garda Síochána reported 43,000 reports of domestic violence-related incidents, an increase of 16% on the 2019 figures. We also know about the scandal of the...

Gas (Amendment) Bill 2023: Second Stage (27 Sep 2023)

Catherine Murphy: ...and be satisfied with the restoration, which it is not in this case. It must also be involved in traffic management. In this particular job, people were nearly killed because the stop-go system failed and we had to get the Garda out late at night. When a job is dangerous, we have to question where the oversight is. Not only does Irish Water need financial oversight, but it needs better...

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (21 Sep 2023)

Catherine Murphy: ...some detail. I was a member of the Committee of Public Accounts when it had a lot of debate about Templemore. The correspondence states that the matter was originally referred to GSOC by the then Garda Commissioner, Nóirín O'Sullivan, in June 2017. That is a six-year time lag. It is incredibly frustrating that it has taken so long for GSOC to conclude the matter. There was a...

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (21 Sep 2023)

Catherine Murphy: I do not know. I think it would be very useful to find out why did this did take the length of time it did. They may have been involved in it but how much of their time went into it? As provided for...

There was an internal review in July 2022 and another in September 2022 and the CEO reported potential fraud to An Garda Síochána in 2022. It appears that report was only made after the second review. There were two reviews. Why was it not reported after the first review, if that was the case?
