Ceisteanna - Questions (Resumed) - Other Questions: Renewable Energy Projects (9 May 2017)

Bríd Smith: ...exactly what is the investment from both companies and what the scale of the project will be? I have heard different figures and am not sure whether I am correct in saying they are investing €5 million each. Is the State giving any subsidy to this? I would love to be enthusiastic about this but I have strong misgivings about what I am reading.

Ceisteanna - Questions (Resumed) - Other Questions: Renewable Energy Projects (9 May 2017)

Bríd Smith: ...renewables. I would argue that this is a real tragedy and I am sceptical, therefore, about the project. It is brilliant there is a move towards this but I am disappointed to hear it is just €5 million between the two companies. I do not believe the Minister has a commitment to solar energy. In an address last November, apparently, he all but ruled out the adoption of solar...

Other Questions: Public Private Partnerships (13 Apr 2017)

Bríd Smith: ...of it. That is shown by the failure of the project to regenerate St. Michael's estate headed by Bernard McNamara. When he pulled out of the project, it cost Dublin City Council at least €5 million and it cost Mr. McNamara €1.5 million. I see he is back up around the corner, rebuilding again. The State had to fork out €35 million on a PPP that failed to deal...

Residential Tenancies (Housing Emergency Measures in the Public Interest) (Amendment) Bill 2016: First Stage (15 Dec 2016)

Bríd Smith: ...and unaffordable rents will continue. The Bill's title refers to housing emergency measures in the public interest, HEMPI. It is deliberately playing on the previous Government's Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Act 2015, known as FEMPI. It is so called to draw a direct parallel with the FEMPI legislation, the longest emergency legislation measure in the history of the...

Pre-European Council: Statements (14 Dec 2016)

Bríd Smith: ...to see the statistics and graphs on this. The biggest recipient of those arms is Saudi Arabia, which is totally engaged in the conflict in Syria, a country that has received approximately €829 million worth of arms in the past two years. The weaponry is horrific. We are talking here about weapons that can kill by shooting, bombs, tanks and planes that can drop horrible explosives...

[19852/16]

Written Answers — Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht: National Monuments (6 Jul 2016)

Bríd Smith: 199. To ask the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht how the State paid a sum of €5 million to purchase Numbers 14 to 17 Moore Street, Dublin 1, including details of the valuation process of the properties and of the recipients of the said moneys. [20058/16]

Irish Water: Statements (27 Apr 2016)

Bríd Smith: ...which nobody wants to talk. I believe the Dublin 4 set and the media do not really get the people. They do not really get what is wrong when we say we are not paying water charges and when we get up at 5 a.m. or 6 a.m. to block the installation of water meters. They do not get it that some people are willing to end up in prison or march consistently. When we look back at the formation...
