Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (13 Dec 2023)

Victor Boyhan: ...journalists and agricultural practitioners. The committee is having a lively debate, which we will hear a lot about on the news later on. Leader, I have a difficulty with the Order of Business, as does my group. The Leader has proposed that the debate on the Policing, Security and Community Safety Bill 2023 would conclude at 6 p.m. by the putting of one question.

Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (13 Dec 2023)

Lynn Boylan: I, too, welcome the UN agreement although we know that it does not go far enough. The UN agreement is indicative of the influence that the fossil fuel industry has on negotiations and particularly at COP28. Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (13 Dec 2023)

Gerard Craughwell: ...by an external body that reported to the Department. Returning to the SAR...

Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (13 Dec 2023)

Lisa Chambers: .... It looked as though it would never be reached. Agreement on transitioning away from and phasing out fossil fuels is a significant moment. As many have said, including Senator Boyhan, the agreement does not go far enough but it certainly goes further than what we expected. It is a step in the right direction. There is some good news in the midst of so much bad news these days....
