Job Losses. (30 Jan 2008)

Michael D'Arcy: I assume the Leas-Cheann Comhairle will be interested in the news relating to Allergan as up to one third of the workforce live in north County Wexford, which is his constituency. However, it has done nothing in Gorey and the rest of...

Site Acquisitions. (7 Feb 2008)

Michael D'Arcy: While the issue I raise may not be as vitally important as the life and death ones my colleagues who spoke before me raised, the biggest issue in my area is the lack of schools. A public private partnership for a site for schools was announced in 2005. I believe that Wexford County Council has done a deal with the Department of Education and Science on the purchase of an 18-acre site in...

Michael D'Arcy: I thank the Minister for reading her press release. It is unfortunate she did not take the opportunity to expand upon it. I find it disappointing that the Minister has had the report for about eight or nine months but it was only released just before Question Time today. Motor Vehicle (Duties and Licences) Bill 2008: Second Stage (Resumed) (20 Feb 2008)

Michael D'Arcy: I will try not to be as funny as my two colleagues about the Greens. It is amazing to see what I term the "Al Gorification" of Fianna Fáil by the Green Party. It is difficult to know who is the greenest, the republican green or the environmental green of the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Deputy Gormley. When I came into the Chamber, Deputy Fleming was...

Motor Vehicle (Duties and Licences) Bill 2008: Second Stage (Resumed) (20 Feb 2008)

Michael D'Arcy: I am sure my colleagues in Wicklow were delighted with that but where is the fairness and transparency? The Green Party and the Government have not been proactive in supporting a burgeoning industry in bio-fuels. This needs to be examined and supported. There is no point in its charging people for CO2 emissions if it is not prepared to support the production of ethanol and biodiesel.
