Credit Institutions (Stabilisation) Bill 2010: Committee Stage (Resumed) and Remaining Stages (15 Dec 2010)

Arthur Morgan: ------how he proposes to deal with the problem of too much debt, of which we have too much in this State because the Minister has linked private debt in the banks with State debt. Credit Institutions (Stabilisation) Bill 2010: Committee Stage (Resumed) and Remaining Stages (15 Dec 2010)

Arthur Morgan: Does the Minister think that will work? Where is the logic in that? Does the Minister believe that, even on a good day, we have the economic base to produce the revenue to make that happen? Credit Institutions (Stabilisation) Bill 2010: Committee Stage (15 Dec 2010)

Arthur Morgan: I agree entirely with the sentiment of the amendment. I do not know how the Minister thinks the President can sign the Bill into law without referring it to the Supreme Court or at least consulting with the Council of State. There will be trouble for this Bill in its current state. I hope there is because I do not want to see legislation passed which incorporates the package from the IMF...
