Pat Carey: A once-off reduction is applied to gross annual public service pensions using a set of rates and income bands, which was introduced under the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Act 2010. I cannot say I fully understand the ramifications of this. I think adequate safeguards are in place to prevent any abuse of the kind suggested by Deputy Doherty.
