Catherine Byrne: We would all expect the CEO of the HSE to be focused on the job. The issue is that it not possible to predict all situations and there may be a valid reason for the CEO to hold some other office. Rather than excluding the possibility completely, we have made it clear that the CEO cannot hold any other office without the consent of the board. For this reason, we will not accept the amendment.
