Jerry Buttimer: In many cases, both parents had to go out to work. I agree with Senator Doherty that the scheme should be suspended. The effect will be more pronounced on middle income young families and on the most vulnerable.

Jerry Buttimer: Some people are vulnerable and cannot afford to pay. As Senator Mary White stated in her contribution last week, many women are now being forced to make choices.
