Ulick Burke: Last February-March, the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food introduced a compensation scheme for farmers who had suffered severe losses of crops, particularly vegetable crops, following frost and flooding. Recently, following assessments, the Minister reduced the compensation figure by 50%.

Ulick Burke: I know there are not many applicants for compensation in the Minister's constituency. Having reduced the compensation figure by 50% where insurance was not available, the Minister has now opted to reduce it by a further 50%.
