Seanad: Order of Business (16 Nov 2017)

Neale Richmond: What did you contribute? Slagging off women playing rugby. That really helped.

Seanad: Order of Business (16 Nov 2017)

Neale Richmond: It is a ridiculous point. On a point of order, Senator Leyden comes into this House and gives out about women playing rugby. Then he gets up here and tries to complain about the efforts of both Governments and all political parties. If he knew something about it, it would be one thing, but he does not know anything about it. He should stick to what he knows.

Seanad: Order of Business (16 Nov 2017)

Neale Richmond: He should stick to the facts.

Seanad: Order of Business (16 Nov 2017)

Neale Richmond: They could negotiate bailouts. That went really well too. Stick to what you know.

Seanad: Order of Business (16 Nov 2017)

Seanad: Order of Business (16 Nov 2017)

Neale Richmond: The Senator is not helping Ireland.

Seanad: Order of Business (16 Nov 2017)

Neale Richmond: Was Senator Leyden at the women's Rugby World Cup in August? I did not see him there. Has he ever been to a rugby match? Has he ever been to a women's match?

Seanad: Order of Business (16 Nov 2017)

Neale Richmond: I will take him whenever he wants.

Seanad: Ireland's Bid for European Banking Authority: Statements (29 Nov 2017)

Neale Richmond: I thank the Minister of State for coming here to address the Seanad. I share some of the concerns expressed by Senator Ó Donnghaile. I am referring to a feeling of what is the point in rehashing a defeat. I have not watched the match where the Irish soccer team lost 5-1 to Denmark again and I have no intention of ever watching it again.

Seanad: Ireland's Bid for European Banking Authority: Statements (29 Nov 2017)

Neale Richmond: Losing the EBA bid is not an ordinary defeat. To paraphrase another sportsman, one never loses, one learns. The Irish negotiating team will learn a lot from the bidding process. I genuinely and wholeheartedly commend the Minister of State present, the Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Deputy Helen McEntee, and the entire team behind the bid. It is a great...

Seanad: Order of Business (17 Jan 2018)

Neale Richmond: I appreciate this opportunity to speak and the Leas-Chathaoirleach fitting me in when I arrived in the Chamber slightly late.

Seanad: Order of Business (17 Jan 2018)

Neale Richmond: I thank the Leas-Chathaoirleach for that. I wish to raise the issue of public transport provision primarily in Dublin. I ask the Leader to arrange for the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to come into the House for us to have a substantive debate on public transport provision in Dublin. The key issue as it relates to my area is with respect to the Luas. Since the Luas has been...

Seanad: Report of the Joint Committee on the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution: Statements (17 Jan 2018)

Neale Richmond: I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this vitally important debate on one of the key issues facing us in these, our times. I will not take the full ten minutes, so if the Acting Chairman would like to redistribute the remaining time to someone like Senator Máire Devine or Senator Colette Kelleher, they would have far more profound things to say than I would and I would be...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on European Union Affairs: Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union: Discussion (17 Jan 2018)

Neale Richmond: I thank the ambassador for his very thorough presentation and I particularly enjoyed his closing remarks relating to Brexit. I wish Bulgaria the best of luck with its first Presidency of the Council of the European Union. I worked on the 2013 Irish Presidency and it was definitely a very rewarding part of my professional career before I entered politics full-time. I know how important it...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on European Union Affairs: European Court of Auditors Annual Report 2016: Discussion (24 Jan 2018)

Neale Richmond: I welcome our guests to this meeting and I wish them the best of luck for the final hurdle next week at the council and thereafter. I have two questions relating to spending and revenue of 2016. The first relates to more than 2016. Mr. Cardiff remarked that, for the first time, Ireland has crept into the net contributor column when it comes to membership of the various European bodies....

Joint Oireachtas Committee on European Union Affairs: European Court of Auditors Annual Report 2016: Discussion (24 Jan 2018)

Neale Richmond: I am, but I do not see how it is relevant to the presentation, to be honest.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on European Union Affairs: European Court of Auditors Annual Report 2016: Discussion (24 Jan 2018)
