Brian Stanley: Whether co-operation can work depends on the geographical situation of the fire, for example if the fire is in the border area of two counties. However, services in the middle of County Laois cannot respond to or help out with a fire in west Offaly, and that is the problem.

Brian Stanley: I am glad that the Minister of State received the report on 6 May. We do not want the Government to convene expert groups that fail to deliver quick outcomes. This issue is of great concern. The €5 million available to complete unfinished sites and housing estates can be put to good use.
