John Lyons: I am deputy Whip and I am aware that the Office of the Parliamentary Counsel does its best. It has to be quite particular when dealing with legal issues and if there are any identifiers which have to be changed at a late stage, it is adamant about this being done in order that the law will still stand.

John Lyons: While I agree with the point being made by Deputy Tóibín, what he is suggesting would be exceptionally difficult to prove. Other than when there is an ERA or defined payment for all, it is often the case in a particular type of employment that people might be on different wages. Proving that a complainant should be on the comparable wage chosen would be very difficult to do.
