Seanad: Northern Ireland Issues: Motion (23 Sep 2015)

Jim Walsh: I welcome the debate and compliment the Leader on tabling the motion. I welcome the contribution of the Minister, Deputy Charles Flanagan, who has left. In fairness, he has significantly strengthened the commitment from the Government's side on this topic. Unfortunately, a light touch has been applied in recent years and this has perhaps created the void. The Taoiseach and the Prime...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade: Refugee and Migrant Crisis: Discussion (23 Sep 2015)

I join others in complimenting the delegates on the work they are doing in dealing with what is probably the greatest humanitarian crisis for some 70 years. Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade: Trial of Ibrahim Halawa: Motion (23 Sep 2015)

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade: Trial of Ibrahim Halawa: Motion (23 Sep 2015)

Jim Walsh: My point is that if the Chairman goes to the Egyptian authorities looking for this permission, he goes with the decision of the committee. If they say that the delegation cannot meet him or attend the court case, the committee will not send a delegation. I think that is implicit.
