Terry Leyden: I was informed by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland this morning that agreement was reached in January that Limerick FM and Clare FM have been bought by Kerry FM.

Terry Leyden: Local radio cannot be local radio if it is owned by one entity. Other companies, such as Communicorp, have also bought up radio stations but that was not the original concept. Local radio was supposed to be local radio.

I request that part of the licence fee given to, and squandered by, RTÉ should be dedicated to real local radio to provide services for local people.
