- Local Government (Household Charge) (Repeal) Bill 2012: Second Stage (Resumed) [Private Members] (20 Jun 2012)
Brian Stanley: There is not an inability to pay clause. There is none. Those on disability, the unemployed, pensioners and lone parents are all saddled with the same burden as the millionaire and the banker. This goes to core of the Government.
- Local Government (Household Charge) (Repeal) Bill 2012: Second Stage (Resumed) [Private Members] (20 Jun 2012)
Brian Stanley: The Government has no heart. It does not even have a veneer of cherishing all the children of the nation equally. If one cannot pay, one faces the full rigours of the law. Ordinary law-abiding citizens who do not pay or who cannot afford to pay face the trauma of being dragged through the courts and facing a fine of up to â¬2,500. If one cannot afford the household charge of â¬100, one...

Brian Stanley: All the services are also provided, however.

- Local Government (Household Charge) (Repeal) Bill 2012: Second Stage [Private Members] (19 Jun 2012)
Brian Stanley: I move: "That the Bill be now read a Second Time." Sinn Féin opposes the Government's household charge. We opposed the charge when it was first introduced last December and we continued to campaign against it. We believe the charge is unjust and unworkable. It will lead to financial crisis in local authorities and will bring further hardship to low and middle income families. The charge...
- Bus Services (19 Jun 2012)
Brian Stanley: I will oppose the withdrawal of public transport services from south County Laois and north County Kilkenny by every means possible. Bus Ãireann's decision is outrageous and can be compared to removing the bus service from the south of Dublin city. If the plan proceeds, the towns of Abbeyleix, Durrow, Johnstown and Urlingford and the village of Cullahill will no longer have a bus service....
- Bus Services (19 Jun 2012)
Brian Stanley: I would also like to request that meeting. I requested a meeting with the Minister last week, so it is to be hoped we can have it. It is vital that Johnstown, Cullahill, Durrow and Abbeyleix are protected. There needs to be a public service obligation for the route. I question the issue of commercial viability, and the same case can be made for Mountrath and Borris-in-Ossory on the N7...

Brian Stanley: Question 2: To ask the Minister for Agriculture; Food and the Marine if the limits on expenditure agreed under the bailout programme has the potential to adversely impact on the potential take-up of the EU infrastructural support, or other funds; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28863/12]
- Departmental Expenditure (14 Jun 2012)
Brian Stanley: I thank the Minister for his reply. Obviously the bailout programme places conditions and restrictions on expenditure across all Departments, including the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine, as the Minister outlined. It covers not only expenditure, but also policy as we have seen with other Departments. If the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine is bound by the Government...
