- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (20 Oct 2021)
Martin Conway: I too support colleagues in calling for a debate on antisocial behaviour. Senator Ward articulated very well a modern problem in respect of antisocial behaviour. Certain people in our community are suffering and we need to address that. We also need to address what is going on in our streets not only in the city of Dublin, but also in other towns where wanton thuggery is taking place. We...
- Joint Committee On Health: Impact of Covid-19 on Children: Discussion (20 Oct 2021)
Martin Conway: I listened earlier in my office to the opening statements and the engagements. I thank the witnesses as they were quite informative. I am particularly interested in Deputy Lahart's engagement on Childline and the operational element of it. Are there many repeat calls? Does the ISPCC profile the callers to try to establish if there are repeat callers? What does the ISPCC do to support the...

- Joint Committee On Health: Impact of Covid-19 on Children: Discussion (20 Oct 2021)
Martin Conway: I thank Mr. Church. Turning to Barnardos, I thank the representative for the presentation. Is there any international best practice that Barnardos has seen that we could learn from or on which we could piggyback in terms of policymaking in the future? - Joint Committee On Health: Impact of Covid-19 on Children: Discussion (20 Oct 2021)
Martin Conway: That is my point. Does the ISPCC feel a certain responsibility if a particular child is ringing consistently with a particular issue whereby the child could be in imminent danger or there is a serious problem? When does the ISPCC decide to escalate it to a different level and bring in the services that would support that child? I realise it is a delicate matter, but I am interested to know.
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (19 Oct 2021)
Martin Conway: I thank the Deputy Leader for outlining the proposed Order of Business. On behalf of the Fine Gael group in this House, I join the Cathaoirleach in extending our sympathies to the family of Sir David Amess. As a new member of the British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly, of which Sir David was also a member, it is a sad day for me. Many of our colleagues in this House met him and worked with...

- Seanad: Sláintecare Implementation: Statements (19 Oct 2021)
Martin Conway: I welcome the Minister, Deputy Donnelly, to the House. He is always very welcome here. I know he has had a long day and a busy few days. We had a very good engagement on the future of Sláintecare at the Joint Committee on Health. I have no doubt about the commitment of the Minister, the Secretary General of his Department and the HSE to Sláintecare. We need to be realistic to...

BreastCheck Screening Programme and Improving Outcomes for Breast Cancer: Discussion (19 Oct 2021) Martin Conway: I welcome our guests and acknowledge the great work they do at all times and particularly in the recent difficult period. I thank Professor Ó Laoide for the comprehensive overview he gave in his opening statement. I would like to drill down into some statistics, which I hope the witnesses can provide. How many people went through the screening service in 2019, before the pandemic, and...
