- Joint Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Irish Speaking Community: An tÉileamh don Ghaeloideachas: an Roinn Oideachais (14 Jun 2023)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: Gabhaim buíochas leis an Aire agus lena hoifigigh. Táthar ag caint faoi aonaid lán-Ghaeilge nuair atá daoine ag lorg coláistí lán-Ghaeilge. Níl mé cinnte faoi na haonaid. Bhí cuid mhór fadhbanna maidir le Coláiste Lú agus a leithéid agus tá an Roinn ag amharc ar scoil satailíte faoin am seo. Cad é tuairim...

Ruairí Ó Murchú: Na scoileanna satailíte. Tá mé ag iarraidh sin a dhéanamh i nDún Dealgan.
- Public Health (Tobacco and Nicotine Inhaling Products) Bill 2023: Second Stage (13 Jun 2023)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: We support the Bill, as do a lot of other people, on the basis that it is dealing with an anomaly that has existed whereby it has not been illegal to sell vapes to children. We are aware that a huge number of vendors have been very careful in how they operate and all the rest of it. We have probably all looked at vaping through a particular prism. We have all seen where it has been...
- Ceisteanna (Atógáil) - Questions (Resumed): Cross-Border Co-operation (13 Jun 2023)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: What about the research modelling and expanding the shared island dialogue?
- Ceisteanna (Atógáil) - Questions (Resumed): Cross-Border Co-operation (13 Jun 2023)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: Gabhaim buíochas leis an Taoiseach.
- Ceisteanna (Atógáil) - Questions (Resumed): Cross-Border Co-operation (13 Jun 2023)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: We welcome much of what has happened as a result of the shared island unit. I have a particular view that the shared island dialogue in general terms needs to be expanded. We accept we are on a certain constitutional trajectory on this island and it is a matter of us recognising that. We have a particular issue at the minute in that we have political drift. We need to ensure that is not...
- Ceisteanna (Atógáil) - Questions (Resumed): Cross-Border Co-operation (13 Jun 2023)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: 24. To ask the Taoiseach if he will report on the work of the shared island dialogue all-island women's forum civic initiative. [28289/23]
- Ceisteanna - Questions: Departmental Strategies (13 Jun 2023)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: The NRP deals with housing and Housing for All. I again want to raise the issue of housing adaptation grants. The fact is that Louth County Council is not accepting applications for these grants at present is because it does not have the funding it needs. The Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Deputy O'Donnell, has spoken of a review. From the...
- Ceisteanna - Questions: Council of Europe (13 Jun 2023)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: I add my voice to what Deputy Conway-Walsh has said. We are hardly shocked that the Council of Europe has serious concern over the legacy Bill that has been proposed by the British Government. I have often said that the British Government introduced this Bill in order that it will not have to deal with the reality of what it did in the North and the dirty war it prosecuted in Ireland,...
- Joint Committee On Health: Services and Supports for People with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: Discussion (13 Jun 2023)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: I welcome all of the witnesses. I thank the Chair. As Senator Carrigy knows, most Chairs have to provide me with a fair amount of leeway. I pay special thanks to Mr. Doogan, Ms Riordan and Dr. McDonnell. I apologise for arriving late. I had another meeting and the witnesses can throw stuff at me afterwards on anything I have missed. I should put on the record that my wife works for...
- Joint Committee On Health: Services and Supports for People with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: Discussion (13 Jun 2023)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: I am not overly concerned. It is more that there was a one-funnel scenario. I accept that CAMHS in Scotland is a different animal than CAMHS in Ireland. We have a whole pile of separate tunnels and someone will do very well to get into one only to be told there is no room at the inn anyway.
- Joint Committee On Health: Services and Supports for People with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: Discussion (13 Jun 2023)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: I do not have to leave my house for that. The comorbidities – autism with ADHD and so on – are the main issue.
- Joint Committee On Health: Services and Supports for People with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: Discussion (13 Jun 2023)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: We are under-resourced. I accept that, if someone only has ten places to deal with ten people, he or she will logically try to do the best for them, but it means that someone will fall off the cliff.
- Joint Committee On Health: Services and Supports for People with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: Discussion (13 Jun 2023)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: Dr. Morris spoke about neurodivergences being treated separately from CAMHS.
- Joint Committee On Health: Services and Supports for People with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: Discussion (13 Jun 2023)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: A one-stop shop and no wrong door is missing across the board. I have no problem with accepting that there will be deficiencies or there will not be full teams in the disability sector, but we can definitely make an assessment of what we can offer, particularly in terms of the community-led initiatives Ms Riordan referenced. That they are group initiatives is a major factor when families...
- Joint Committee On Health: Services and Supports for People with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: Discussion (13 Jun 2023)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: The witnesses have put it in a very straightforward way. Could the witnesses, from their point of view, sum up very quickly what needs to happen? What is the recommendation that needs to come out of this, and what is it that the committee needs to follow up on? I might add that I just inveigled my way into this committee, but I am well used to doing that.
- Joint Committee On Health: Services and Supports for People with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: Discussion (13 Jun 2023)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: A proper roll-out.
