Frances Fitzgerald: There is a campaign, See Change, to seek to change outdated attitudes. I appeal to all not to use such language, from which we want to move away. It is hard enough for people with mental health difficulties to deal with what faces them without listening to this language from a Minister in a most privileged position.

Frances Fitzgerald: On a different health topic, this is World AIDS Day. The Irish Times has produced an excellent graphic detailing the scale of the problem with HIV and AIDS in this country. The HIV rate has doubled since 1999, despite the fact it peaked globally in that year. At an appropriate point we need to have a debate on this topic. Huge information and education issues continue to arise in this regard.
