Brian Ó Domhnaill: It is not built yet.
- Seanad: Primary Care Centres: Motion (10 Oct 2012)
Brian Ó Domhnaill: That is being flippant. There are buildings that could potentially be suitable.
- Seanad: Primary Care Centres: Motion (10 Oct 2012)
Brian Ó Domhnaill: I know who owns some of them. They are people with huge mortgages who are struggling to pay them and cannot find tenants for those properties. I am sure they are lobbying Government Members. I know some of these people and I am sure the Members opposite know them as well. If the Labour Party wants new buildings when thousands of empty buildings are available, I cannot see the logic in it....
- Seanad: Primary Care Centres: Motion (10 Oct 2012)
Brian Ó Domhnaill: These are the elderly and vulnerable. Any cut to home care packages and home help support is a disgrace and cannot be supported.
- Seanad: Primary Care Centres: Motion (10 Oct 2012)
Brian Ó Domhnaill: This motion is important. I plead with the Minister to go back to the drawing board and rule out any cuts to home help in particular.
- Seanad: Primary Care Centres: Motion (10 Oct 2012)
Brian Ó Domhnaill: I second the motion and welcome the Minister to the House. I agree with Senator MacSharry, in that the Minister was always available to attend when required. Some of his Cabinet colleagues could learn from him. A number of words came to mind while Senator MacSharry was speaking. The Minister undertook the marathon expedition in 2010 and finished the course. It would be fair to say that he...

Brian Ó Domhnaill: If we were in government-----
- Seanad: Primary Care Centres: Motion (10 Oct 2012)
Brian Ó Domhnaill: -----and had this scenario unfolded, we know who would have been shouting the loudest. We have a right in opposition to ask the questions to which the people are seeking answers. Politics is about the art of the possible. Primary care was a fundamental pillar of the programme for Government's health sphere. I agree that the development of primary care is essential if we are to remove the...

Brian Ó Domhnaill: CailÃn dána.
- Seanad: Houses of the Oireachtas Commission (Amendment) Bill 2012: Second Stage (10 Oct 2012)
Brian Ó Domhnaill: Deirtear go gcuirfear obair an choiste san áireamh ag an am sin. B'fhéidir go bhfuil réasún éagsúil leis sin. Sin na ceisteanna atá agam. Nà raibh mé in ann a bheith i láthair ag an gcruinniú faisnéise sa Roinn aréir. Má chreidimidne i bhFianna Fáil go bhfuil an Rialtas ag déanamh rud a chuideoidh leis an Ghaeilge, béarfaimid iomlán tacaÃochta dó. Má chuidÃonn beart...
- Seanad: Houses of the Oireachtas Commission (Amendment) Bill 2012: Second Stage (10 Oct 2012)
Brian Ó Domhnaill: Ba mhaith liom fáiltiú roimh an Aire Stáit, an Teachta Donnchadh Mac Fhionnlaoich, agus roimh fheidhmeannaigh na Roinne go dtà an Teach chun plé a dhéanamh ar Dhara Chéim an Bhille. Tá mé ag labhairt inniu thar ceann úrlabhraà Fhianna Fáil ar chúrsaà Gaeltachta, an Seanadóir Labhrás à Murchú, de bhrà nach bhfuil sé in ann a bheith anseo inniu. Tá lúcháir orm a bheith...
- Seanad: Order of Business (Resumed) (9 Oct 2012)
Brian Ó Domhnaill: It is in light of the total lack of commitment and the lack of a response to my learned colleague, Senator White.

Brian Ó Domhnaill: Disgraceful.
- Seanad: Order of Business (9 Oct 2012)

- Seanad: Order of Business (9 Oct 2012)

- Seanad: Order of Business (9 Oct 2012)
Brian Ó Domhnaill: Tá lúcháir orm an deis a bheith agam labhairt anseo inniu agus oiread feirmeoirà ag cruinniú taobh amuigh de gheataà Theach Laighean. Tá thart ar 20,000 feirmeoir cruinnithe taobh amuigh de na geataà inniu i dtaca leis na ciorruithe atá á chur i bhfeidhm ag an Aire maidir le cúrsaà talmhaÃochta. I commend the Irish Farmers Association for its organisation of today's peaceful...
- Seanad: Adjournment Matters: Coast Guard Stations (4 Oct 2012)
Brian Ó Domhnaill: The response is very bleak. Lines such as, "That process will call for tough decisions to be made. It is important to recognise that resources available to the maritime services are very limited and must be deployed on a prioritised basis and as effectively and efficiently as possible to address the most urgent needs," do not read as a vote of confidence in the future of the Malin Head...
- Seanad: Adjournment Matters: Coast Guard Stations (4 Oct 2012)
Brian Ó Domhnaill: This issue concerns the absolute uncertainty of the future of the Malin Head Coast Guard station. I appreciate the fact that the Minister of State, Deputy Perry, is here this evening, although he does not have direct responsibility for Coast Guard stations. I had hoped the Minister for Transport, Deputy Varadkar, would be here to respond on this issue, but I appreciate he may have other...
