Pearse Doherty: I would suppose that everyone on this committee agrees with the idea of a fiscal union. I would say it was within the scope of the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council. If it cannot comment on whether they are sustainable tax proposals, I am not sure that commenting on proposals coming from the European Commission would be in its interests.
