Report of the Standing Order 103 Select Committee: Motion (17 May 2011)

Liam Twomey: I support the motion. The committee was set up to examine whether the draft EU directive complied with the subsidiarity principle and we decided that it did not and gave a reasoned opinion for that. Electoral (Amendment) (Political Donations) Bill 2011: Second Stage (resumed) (11 May 2011)

Liam Twomey: There is much hypocrisy in politics but that of Fianna Fáil in bringing forward this Private Members' Bill is unbelievable. Restoring decency and faith in public life and the public system will not be done by legislation; therefore, significant further changes beyond the scope of this Bill will be needed. We must change the whole ethos of public life, both as public representatives and...

EU-IMF Programme: Statements (Resumed) (5 May 2011)

Liam Twomey: Since September 2008, the people of Ireland have been suffering traumatic stress due to what is basically an economic war. The stress, anxiety, fear and irrational thinking is not much different from what would be seen in a real war.
