- Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31 (31 Jan 2007)
Seymour Crawford: I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss an issue of urgent local and national importance, namely, that RehabCare, with the support of the HSE, has withdrawn a service user allowance of â¬25.40 from a group of handicapped people in Monaghan town, even though RehabCare hoped the HSE would be in a position to fund it. Despite a budget in excess of â¬13 billion,...

- Health Bill 2006: Second Stage (24 Jan 2007)
Seymour Crawford: I wish to share time with Deputies Connaughton and Deenihan. I cannot help but start where Deputy Glennon finished and give total support to the women to whom he referred, which has been evident across parties. I represent Cavan-Monaghan in which a number of patients who were dealt with in such a dreadful way by Mr. Neary live. There is complete recognition of the facts. Although there...
- Health Bill 2006: Second Stage (24 Jan 2007)
Seymour Crawford: Subvention is still a major problem. The new rules were introduced before the Dáil went into recess last year. When I spoke to people in the subvention office yesterday it became apparent they did not know of the new rules yet, although all cases were supposed to be brought up to date by 31 January 2007. That is totally unacceptable. It is the wrong way to treat the elderly.

- Foyle and Carlingford Fisheries Bill 2006: Second Stage (14 Dec 2006)
Seymour Crawford: I appreciate that Deputy Keaveney knows a lot more about the Foyle fishery than I do, living in one of the most inland areas in Ireland with no access to the sea at all. I welcome the opportunity, however, to say a few words because this forms part of the Good Friday Agreement and, in that context, is extremely important. It is unfortunate that the Northern Ireland Assembly is not in place...

- Local Government (Business Improvement Districts) Bill 2006 [Seanad]: Second and Subsequent Stages (12 Dec 2006)
Seymour Crawford: I welcome the opportunity to contribute to the debate on this legislation. While I may not be as positive as some of my colleagues, it is not for reason of being awkward. I come from the Border region where rates, insurance and so on have been major headaches. I am slow to agree to more levies that may push businesses further into difficulty. I realise that benefits will accrue from the...
