Imelda Munster: With all due respect, I suggest that Mr. Doyle works a bit harder. I come up O'Connell Street every morning and I practically trip over people lying in doorways. That is not to talk about three and four generations-----

Imelda Munster: In fairness, we cannot see evidence of that. The job Mr. Doyle is tasked with is to deliver and he is failing to do so. Even this year, to give people the slimmest glimmer of hope, he could not do that.

Imelda Munster: Is Mr. Doyle is confident in his figures? He is coming in here and spewing out figures and yet he cannot back it up and say that "Yes, we can say that we will deliver. We failed last year but we will deliver this year."

(26 Jan 2023)

Imelda Munster: Will a representative from the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform and, perhaps, the Comptroller and Auditor General outline a process whereby the Government might decide whether or not to increase a Secretary General's grade within a Department? What is the formal process involved in the context of the review? Is it based upon particular criteria, such as the size of a Department?...

Chapter 4: Re-allocation of Voted Funds
Chapter 6: Central Government Funding of Local Authorities
Chapter 7: The Housing Agency’s Revolving Acquisition Fund
(26 Jan 2023)

Imelda Munster: As it stands, would it be dependent on the size of the Department involved and various other criteria. Is there a certain criterion at the moment or could it be decided at the whim of the Secretary General of, say, the Department of the Taoiseach?

Chapter 4: Re-allocation of Voted Funds
Chapter 6: Central Government Funding of Local Authorities
Chapter 7: The Housing Agency’s Revolving Acquisition Fund
(26 Jan 2023)

Imelda Munster: I heard one of my colleagues raise this matter earlier. There seems to be some confusion around the agreement for pay upgrades to grade I. If that original agreement was made with an individual from the Department of the Taoiseach who is now in a different Department or a new role, could that not simply be clarified by asking about that initial conversation? Is there something in writing?...

Chapter 7: The Housing Agency’s Revolving Acquisition Fund
(26 Jan 2023)

Imelda Munster: We know that, but my question is why that is not being clarified. If the person who led the Department to believe that this would be the case is still in a Department or in another role, why is simple clarification not sought on that?

Ceisteanna ar Sonraíodh Uain Dóibh - Priority Questions: Tourism Industry (26 Jan 2023)

Imelda Munster: From the start, hotel accommodation was seen as a short-term solution. It is not an ideal medium-to-long-term solution for the families involved. We are six weeks away from when the tourism season starts. The Minister is not responsible for sourcing accommodation, and I am not for one moment saying she is, but she is responsible for the tourism sector. Apart from the OPW's 200 rapid-build...

Imelda Munster: Further to Question No. 1 of 17 November 2022, will the Minister provide an update on whether the wide range of alternative options being explored by the Government will be made available in time for the reopening of hotels to tourism in summer 2023, and on the engagement carried out by her Department on the senior officials group, including a copy of or details of the concerns she...

Ceisteanna ar Sonraíodh Uain Dóibh - Priority Questions: Tourism Industry (26 Jan 2023)

Imelda Munster: As the Minister said, the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation compiled a report that revealed that more than one in five tourist beds in Ireland are contracted by the State. That is 22% of the country's tourism accommodation capacity, including 15% of hotel rooms, to provide shelter for those fleeing Ukraine and the thousands of other asylum seekers from other countries. The fear is that...
