The question is unfair, in a sense, given that the report has just been published but it would be remiss of me not to mention it. Is the figure of 3% not a huge problem?

Catherine Connolly: Rather than me digressing into the Irish language, I would love to come back to Mr. Finnegan on it another time. If people are not taking up the classes, we need to look at that. There is an inverse relationship between the amount of empathy and sympathy for and delight in the Irish language and the rate of its decline. We have a serious challenge but I will park the issue for the moment....
