Clare Daly: I move amendment No. 23:In page 9, to delete lines 27 to 32. As it stands, the Bill requires that a termination of pregnancy must be carried out by the certifying obstetrician. This is an unnecessary requirement without a clinical rationale. It runs contrary to normal procedure, such as rostering and annual leave, and could introduce barriers that cause pregnancies to exceed the time limit.
