- Other Questions: Homeless Persons Supports (23 Feb 2017)
Jan O'Sullivan: We are all aware that homeless families living in hotels are under huge strain. In many cases, their children must go to school in the area where they used to live. There was an announcement on 19 July 2016 that they would get free travel to and from school, which was very welcome. I raised the matter in October and was told it would be a few weeks. I raised it in December and I was told...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Future Funding of Domestic Water Services: Public Water Forum (22 Feb 2017)
Jan O'Sullivan: Ms Graham's presentation gives a figure of €173.76 million which has been collected in water charges so far, while a significant figure has not been collected. The Public Water Forum stated that equity must apply to both those who paid the charges and those who did not pay, though it states that it has not had the opportunity to look at the issue in detail yet. It is an issue we need...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Future Funding of Domestic Water Services: Public Water Forum (22 Feb 2017)
Jan O'Sullivan: If it is not an individual meter then if somebody is to be charged for overuse one has to have a method of appeal or some way of dealing fairly with people. I do not know whether one can measure individual water flows if one does not have a meter but any information in that regard would be useful to us as we come closer to conclusions.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Children and Youth Affairs: Cybersecurity for Children and Young Adults: Discussion (22 Feb 2017)
Jan O'Sullivan: I will follow up on the last point. The ISPCC has recommended the establishment of the office of a digital safety commissioner and a policy and regulatory framework in its documentation. The three witnesses have painted a worrying picture but they said there are solutions. What should we do? One measure is to educate children and parents. We need to provide solidarity for parents...

Jan O'Sullivan: Can the app providers stop that from happening? Can we campaign for the option to be removed? What should we, as an Oireachtas committee, recommend in terms of legislative or organisational measures?

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Children and Youth Affairs: Governance and Control Procedures in Tusla - Child and Family Agency: Discussion (22 Feb 2017)
Jan O'Sullivan: I thank the witnesses for their presentations. The crucial issue is about the delicate balance between the constitutional right of the child to be protected and the right of the alleged perpetrator to their good name. I want to follow up on the series of questions that others have asked and focus, in particular, on the right of the alleged perpetrator. I note with some concern that Mr....
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Children and Youth Affairs: Governance and Control Procedures in Tusla - Child and Family Agency: Discussion (22 Feb 2017)
Jan O'Sullivan: The witnesses obviously know where my concerns are coming from but my question is general. Could there be cases on a waiting list for assignation to a social worker that might already have been referred to the Garda? In the written presentation, the agency stated it would co-operate fully with the HIQA investigation announced by the Minister. The presentation states:HIQA has recently...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Children and Youth Affairs: Governance and Control Procedures in Tusla - Child and Family Agency: Discussion (22 Feb 2017)
Jan O'Sullivan: That is unfair.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Children and Youth Affairs: Governance and Control Procedures in Tusla - Child and Family Agency: Discussion (22 Feb 2017)
Jan O'Sullivan: I am sorry but we have very little time. My question was not about the person who makes the allegation, it was about how Tusla continues to share information with the Garda to make sure that whatever information it has goes to the Garda and the person who is the alleged perpetrator, because that it the only language that I know to use, is actually informed of what is on the record.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Children and Youth Affairs: Governance and Control Procedures in Tusla - Child and Family Agency: Discussion (22 Feb 2017)
Jan O'Sullivan: I am still not clear how Tusla protects the alleged perpetrator in terms of sharing information.
