Róisín Shortall: The purpose of requesting proof of house insurance from persons making applications for medical cards is to assist in determining a person's net income, as per the medical card guidelines. Some housing costs such as house insurance costs, can be offset against an applicant's income and improve their chances of qualifying for a medical card.

Róisín Shortall: Injectable naloxone products for the treatment of acute opioid overdose are authorised in Ireland. These products are primarily used in hospital settings to treat overdose. Any consideration of the wider distribution of naloxone will await the finalisation of the recommendations of a National Overdose Prevention Strategy which is expected in the coming months.
