Enda Kenny: I would expect them to do that.

Leaders' Questions (26 Feb 2013)

Enda Kenny: These negotiations have been among the most fundamental to have taken place in this country in many years. One of the reasons the Government was elected was to deal with the problems faced by our national finances. We must get our deficit to a level at which this challenge can be dealt with comprehensively. The target that has been set involves reducing the deficit to 3% by 2015. That...

Leaders' Questions (26 Feb 2013)

Enda Kenny: Will the Deputy repeat his question please?

Leaders' Questions (26 Feb 2013)

Enda Kenny: The Deputy is clear on the fact that when a tribunal is set up by the Houses of the Oireachtas, the Oireachtas has no further function in the matter. The report of the Moriarty tribunal has already been made. The allegations or comments made by the Deputy could have been applied to a number of other personalities in other tribunals also. The Moriarty tribunal made recommendations on...

Enda Kenny: The annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) is attended by political and business leaders and heads of international organisations and provides a unique forum for debate and discussion on a wide range of topics of global economic and political interest. I attended the 2013 annual meeting in Davos from 23-25 January. Details of my programme are set out below. The primary purpose of my...

Enda Kenny: The information sought by the Deputy is not available for the past four years to date but is available for 2006 – 2010. The latest CSO Business Demography returns for 2010 were released on 22 June 2012 and the tables below provide data on business start ups and active enterprises for the sectors requested. The terms used by CSO are "enterprise births" which refers to new business start...

Enda Kenny: I propose to answer Questions Nos. 150 and 151 together. The National Economic and Social Development Office (NESDO) is the only State Agency under the auspices of my Department. In 2012, the salary of the Chief Officer of the NESDO was €170,546. This included an allowance of €24,355, being 16.66% of salary in lieu of superannuation. Including the Chief Officer, five staff...

Order of Business (20 Feb 2013)

Enda Kenny: No, it is not intended to have any supplementary budget this session. Deputy Hannigan raised this earlier. The report is now published; it will go to the Oireachtas committee. The advisory group made recommendations about the importance of a universal payment, but it examined issues of taxation of child benefit and a two-tier system. The report will come back to the House for discussion...

Order of Business (20 Feb 2013)

Enda Kenny: This all depends upon European decisions in regard to the semester, as it is called. It may be, as I said earlier on, that the budget for 2014 might be presented a little earlier, but I cannot confirm that yet. In any event, we have enough challenges with implementing budget 2013 before we get to considering budget 2014.

Order of Business (20 Feb 2013)

Enda Kenny: That is being drafted at the moment. I expect it will come through in this session.

Order of Business (20 Feb 2013)

Enda Kenny: I understand that it will be this session. The Deputy will also be aware that we got another €100 million for rural development under the multi-annual financial framework, MFF, at the recent discussions in Brussels, which I know he is pleased with.

Order of Business (20 Feb 2013)

Enda Kenny: That is on Second Stage. The first one in respect of contractors is on Committee Stage and is expected back in March.

Order of Business (20 Feb 2013)

Enda Kenny: There is no date for the publication of the human tissue Bill. I will communicate with the Deputy. The turbines are obviously a matter of interest for a lot of people. There is a planning process to go through, as the Deputy knows.

Enda Kenny: No. We do not have legislation. The Deputy could raise that matter, I assume, during the course of the Finance Bill.
