John Lahart: I want to ask the Tánaiste about the special tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine, which we hope will be able to investigate and prosecute senior government and military leaders responsible for the crime of aggression up to and including heads of state. He might update the House in that regard.
- Ceisteanna ar Sonraíodh Uain Dóibh (Atógáil) - Priority Questions (Resumed): Foreign Policy (10 Jul 2025)
John Lahart: What is interesting from listening to the debates here in the past week is the criticism of the Government about its stance on the Iranian regime from some of the far left voices in the House and a complete ignorance about who supplies an awful lot of these drones to Russia to continuously attack a part of Europe. I understand the special tribunal I referred to in the question is the first...

- Post-European Council: Statements (9 Jul 2025)
John Lahart: On the subject of our contributions, we had the Gates Foundation in yesterday. It was about maternal and child health. Ireland remains up there with just the Nordic countries and the Dutch in retaining that level of support. We are beacons in the ocean of development aid funding, but specifically in that area. The Minister of State may want to comment further.

John Lahart: I advise members of the constitutional requirement that members must be physically present within the confines of the Leinster House complex to participate in public meetings. I will not permit a member to participate where he or she is not adhering to this constitutional requirement. Therefore, a member who attempts to participate from outside the precincts of Leinster House will be asked...

John Lahart: I thank the four witnesses. Such was the haste in getting started that I forgot to apologise for keeping them. There were votes in the Chamber which were unavoidable. I thank them for their patience.

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade: General Scheme of Israeli Settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (Prohibition of Importation of Goods) Bill 2025: Discussion (Resumed) (9 Jul 2025)
John Lahart: I will now ask some questions. I am Deputy John Lahart, Cathaoirleach of the committee. This question requires a short answer. Perhaps this Bill does not do it, but is it possible for a member state to draft a Bill that would be successful to challenge in terms of banning goods and services from the occupied territories?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade: General Scheme of Israeli Settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (Prohibition of Importation of Goods) Bill 2025: Discussion (Resumed) (9 Jul 2025)
John Lahart: I will ask two quick questions because there is unfortunately another vote in the Dáil. Professor Butler used the word "could" in his contribution. He did not say "would". He then used the word "would" and changed it to "could". That softened the impact of what he was saying. We might come back to that. I will come back very briefly to the witnesses we had last week. In the...

John Lahart: No. I am sorry but I am going to stop Professor Butler. There are four minutes left in my round. I will ask the Vice-Chair, Senator Ahearn, to assume the Chair again. I will leave my four minutes to the other three witnesses. If there are points they want to add or refute, they have my four minutes to do so. Does Ms Ni Ghrálaigh want to come in?
