Public Accounts Committee: 2021 Financial Statements of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland: Discussion (9 Mar 2023)

Imelda Munster: Does Dr. Byrne not think the reduction in the size of the grant would have been the cause of the drop-off because people would have had to pay more to get their attics or walls insulated?

Public Accounts Committee: 2021 Financial Statements of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland: Discussion (9 Mar 2023)

Imelda Munster: To focus on the deep retrofits, anyone who had the money could go ahead. Was it wise to alter the grants, given that the take-up was massive across the length and breadth of the State? Imelda Munster: In his position, would Dr. Byrne consider the reduction of a grant that results in more expensive cavity wall insulation for ordinary people a retrograde step? Would it discourage people to have their attics or walls insulated because they are getting less money towards those works?

Protection of Cash as Legal Tender: Motion [Private Members] (8 Mar 2023)

Imelda Munster: Because of how precious cash can be during times of financial stress, many have said that cash is king. This phrase means that having liquid funds available can be vital because of the flexibility it provides during a crisis. It does not have to be a crisis, however. It can be as simple as granny slipping a few coins or, if they are lucky, a fiver into her grandchildren's hands with the...

Imelda Munster: This Bill will allow Ireland to procure up to 450 MW of temporary emergency generation capacity to mitigate the security of supply risk next winter. However, the Minister cannot say the threats of blackouts just happened or blame this situation on the war in Ukraine. This is an unmitigated failure by the Government to manage electricity demand and supply. EirGrid has been raising this...
