Management has also denied the allegation that it is never there. It is on record as saying that is not true and that they are present at various times during the day. Seán Crowe: I have a couple of comments myself. At the start of the meeting we heard that there were 592 people on trolley beds yesterday with an average of 560 a day. There are huge challenges there. It was asked why people turn up at emergency departments. The reason people turn up is that they are not well and are looking for medical assistance. Vote 38 - Health (Further Revised) (19 Apr 2023) Seán Crowe: I thank the Minister, Deputy Donnelly, for his opening statement. Before I open up the debate to members, I would like to say that we have had a number of witnesses at different meetings over the last couple of months, coming in and expressing frustration regarding the goodwill pandemic payment. Vote 38 - Health (Further Revised) (19 Apr 2023) Seán Crowe: One of the difficulties with giving us a list was that the situation is ongoing. The letter we got back in March outlined that a significant number of people had been paid but we do not know who has not been paid. That is the big problem. Just this week, I heard that those who were giving people vaccines in Citywest have still not been paid. We had firefighters in and they were...

It would make sense for him to arrange those meetings with the people concerned and their representatives. I apologise for going on so long on that issue but it is important.
