- Public Accounts Committee: National Paediatric Hospital Development Board: Financial Statements 2018 (5 Dec 2019)
Catherine Connolly: I have heard that said before, but speaking as a member of this committee, I am not happy. Foundations have been set up within universities. Lately, Trinity College Dublin has "consolidated", I think is the word-----
- Public Accounts Committee: National Paediatric Hospital Development Board: Financial Statements 2018 (5 Dec 2019)
Catherine Connolly: It had a separate foundation. When it appeared before us to go through its accounts, it had consolidated the foundation's accounts, meaning that we had "scrutiny" of same. Trinity has led the way. I do not believe that Maynooth University has a foundation. Did it consolidate? I cannot recall. The other universities have not done it yet. CHI is following a pattern of having a foundation...
- Public Accounts Committee: National Paediatric Hospital Development Board: Financial Statements 2018 (5 Dec 2019)
Catherine Connolly: It is important. In a hospital of this nature, the foundation's uses should be open to maximum scrutiny, particularly in respect of research and development. Has it been confirmed how many rooms will be available for families? Are we still waiting on the never-never for that?

Catherine Connolly: What was the plan? What is the required complement?
- Public Accounts Committee: National Paediatric Hospital Development Board: Financial Statements 2018 (5 Dec 2019)

- Public Accounts Committee: National Paediatric Hospital Development Board: Financial Statements 2018 (5 Dec 2019)
Catherine Connolly: I am more interested in the model of public medicine and what is required. I will come back, when asking my final questions, to ask about private rooms and the overall cost of the hospital. Even if we are relying on...

Catherine Connolly: Yes.
- Public Accounts Committee: National Paediatric Hospital Development Board: Financial Statements 2018 (5 Dec 2019)
Catherine Connolly: It is additional accommodation, and that is very welcome in a sense as long as the charity comes under public scrutiny.
- Public Accounts Committee: National Paediatric Hospital Development Board: Financial Statements 2018 (5 Dec 2019)
Catherine Connolly: What will be the final cost of the hospital? I ask also, as I did on the previous occasion, about the number of private rooms for consultants to do private medicine. Those are my final two questions. The figure of €2 billion has been used. I do not want headlines, I want clarity. What do our guests think will be the final figure for the building costs when the hospital is handed...
- Public Accounts Committee: National Paediatric Hospital Development Board: Financial Statements 2018 (5 Dec 2019)
Catherine Connolly: I agree, and Mr. Barry has been clear on that, but he must have some figure in his head. There must be a plan to cover those residual risks.
