Written Answers — Department of Health: Home Care Packages Provision (28 Jun 2016)

Helen McEntee: Home supports are a key mechanism for enabling older people to remain in their own homes and communities for as long as possible and for facilitating their discharge from acute hospitals. As Minister of State in the Department of Health, one of my specific areas of responsibility is older people but today my focus will mainly be on younger people and my generation. I was 22 years of age in 2008 when the Celtic tiger economy...

While that is obviously very positive, it brings its challenges. These...

Seanad: Commencement Matters: Care of the Elderly (23 Jun 2016)

Helen McEntee: The cross-sectoral steering group that has been established has been given the remit to look at this. I will certainly ensure there is something specific for elderly people and those living in rural areas. In recent years it has been a mixture of lack of funding and also not having the relevant stage. I will bring that to attention of the group.
