- Ceisteanna ar Reachtaíocht a Gealladh - Questions on Promised Legislation (21 Feb 2019)
Brian Stanley: My question relates to page 63 of the programme for Government, which pledges to "Implement the new procedures to ensure more efficient and timely recruitment of" staff in health services. - Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Approved Housing Bodies (20 Feb 2019)
Brian Stanley: The payment and availability scheme for approved housing bodies is one of the schemes introduced by the Government to try to increase housing supply. Little is known about it, but it has been in operation for some time. It would be useful for the House to examine the scheme, how it is working and its terms.
- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Approved Housing Bodies (20 Feb 2019)
Brian Stanley: The Minister of State provided some detail on how the subvention to approved housing bodies from local authorities is working. Is it a contra item? In other words, is the local authority reimbursed by the Department for that figure? It accounts for a substantial chunk of local authority budgets. The Minister of State clarified that between 80% and 95% of market rent is paid to the...
- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Approved Housing Bodies (20 Feb 2019)
Brian Stanley: The problem is that local authorities have very little say in any of this, apart from passing the budget every year for the payment and availability scheme. That is the reality which the Minister of State must recognise. On value for money, I understand that the Government will bring in several schemes to try to deliver the maximum number of houses but the problem relates to the cost to the...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Communications, Climate Action and Environment: General Scheme of the Miscellaneous Provisions (Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union on 29 March 2019) Bill 2019: Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment (19 Feb 2019)
Brian Stanley: I thank the Minister for his comments. The main concerns are an interruption to supply and cost. If I heard him correctly, he indicated there would be no impact from Brexit on the gas supply. I have a couple of questions on that. We agree that the single electricity market operating on the island as a whole has brought much benefit. It is beneficial for the North, as it is questionable...
Brian Stanley: I have a question on the integrated single electricity market, ISEM. As I recall, there was a commitment last October to deliver overall savings of €200 million to customers. That does not appear to have happened. What we have had since have been further cost increases. In the context of Brexit, the real fear is that with interruption in gas supply in particular, the cost to...
