- Ceisteanna Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation (9 May 2024)
Pa Daly: Ba mhaith liom ceist a chur ort maidir le Teach Siamsa na Carraige in iarthar Chiarraí. Tá a fhios againn go bhfuil deacrachtaí airgeadais i Siamsa Tíre agus bhí bord Shiamsa Tíre chun é a dhíol. Teastaíonn ón bpobal i gCorca Dhuibhne é a choimeád i seilbh an phobail agus gan é dhíol. Is achmhainn thábhachtach...
- Affordable Housing: Motion [Private Members] (8 May 2024)
Pa Daly: I recall when I was on Kerry County Council there were some years, in and around 2017 and 2018, when one social housing unit was built and completed in the town of Tralee. In another year, there were three. Since the Government came into power all it has done is take the baton from those disastrous policies and continue with them, with overreliance on the private sector. It is no wonder...

- Gambling Regulation Bill 2022: Report Stage (Resumed) and Final Stage (1 May 2024)

- Gambling Regulation Bill 2022: Report Stage (Resumed) and Final Stage (1 May 2024)
Pa Daly: The Minister is correct about one thing, that there is a lot of confusion about this, not only about the ads that may be in general newspapers or newspapers specifically geared towards people who may place a bet. I have even received queries about offering a cup of tea in a bingo hall. Is that an inducement? Would it be prohibited? It is important to get this right. Before the Bill...
- Gambling Regulation Bill 2022: Report Stage (Resumed) and Final Stage (1 May 2024)
Pa Daly: Let us be clear that the target here is the large providers, particularly online, but there is a conflation here between fundraising and gambling. - Gambling Regulation Bill 2022: Report Stage (Resumed) and Final Stage (1 May 2024)
Pa Daly: Before Deputy Gould takes the floor, I wish to note that this is an area in which he has done a lot of work. He had a Private Members' Bill on it. We all know that credit card gambling causes serious harm. All the groups we met that are concerned about gambling highlighted this issue. It allows people to run up serious debts and can lead to major gambling harm. We know 55,000 people in...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality: Legal Aid Board: Chairperson Designate (30 Apr 2024)
Pa Daly: Ms Egan also mentioned the threshold of €18,000, which would exclude anybody earning more than approximately €350 per week. I know that in Scotland the threshold is £26,000, which is approximately €30,000. Did Ms Egan's office make any suggestions as to what this threshold might be raised to or has anybody else suggested or given an idea as to what it might go to?
