On the basis of creating a second class citizenry, what are the opinions of Ms Boteju and Dr. Finegan, whom I welcome back to Leinster House, on LGBT people being able to adopt, foster and raise children? Given the reference in the presentation to the commoditisation of children, is it their opinion that gay people treat or look on children as commodities?

Jerry Buttimer: I call Deputy Stanton. The Deputy is speaking in his capacity as Chair of the Joint Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality. As the Minister stated, Deputy Stanton, as Chair of that committee, with his colleagues, held pre-legislative scrutiny on the Bill. This was a new provision introduced in November last. I recognise Deputy Stanton as Chair of that committee.
