- Waste Collection Charges: Motion [Private Members] (21 Jun 2016)
Michael Healy-Rae: I respect that very much. I have an account of it and I compliment the Minister on that because it was most important. That would have placed an unbearable financial burden on that sector of our society which we want to help and protect. I thank the Minister for that. We do not want to be nonsensical about waste. In County Kerry an excellent facility was put in at Muingnaminnane by...
- Waste Collection Charges: Motion [Private Members] (21 Jun 2016)
Michael Healy-Rae: I congratulate the Ministers on their appointments and particularly the Minister, Deputy Simon Coveney who is a safe pair of hands in what I consider a very delicate role for the next number of months, and years I hope. He will be very secure in doing the job that he has been given. He knows I mean that. This is a very important issue. Deputy McGrath has highlighted one specific issue...
- Order of Business (Resumed) (21 Jun 2016)
Michael Healy-Rae: After a long, hard battle, the Government has thankfully agreed, in the programme for Government, to deliver the re-introduction of local improvement schemes and a new drainage scheme. This is a most welcome development. Local improvement schemes were suspended more than five years ago, which meant that no local authority in Ireland could offer people living on a road on which there might...
- Order of Business (Resumed) (21 Jun 2016)

When will the new drainage scheme be put in place and...

- Death of Jo Cox, MP: Expressions of Sympathy (21 Jun 2016)
Michael Healy-Rae: I have noted on social media in particular in the past 24 months that the ladies who are elected to this House have been subjected to outrageous things. I have often had differences of opinion with a political colleague of mine, Deputy Joan Burton, but I do not agree with what she was subjected to. It was outrageous. We must stop that sort of nonsense.
- Death of Jo Cox, MP: Expressions of Sympathy (21 Jun 2016)
Michael Healy-Rae: We must unite in standing up for ourselves. If we do not stand up for ourselves, no one else will. The situation culminated in that horrific attack the other day and it should not be tolerated in a civilised society. I speak on behalf of the Rural Technical Group. We feel very strongly about this. We must stand up against this sort of thing once and for all.
- Death of Jo Cox, MP: Expressions of Sympathy (21 Jun 2016)
Michael Healy-Rae: On behalf of the rural independent group, I want to express our sincerest sympathies to Jo Cox's husband, Brendan, her extended family and her party. This is a grotesque attack on democracy. That a respectable elected parliamentarian who was going about her business in a respectful and respectable fashion and was gunned down in this type of horror attack is an absolute attack on the...
