- Seanad: Order of Business (14 May 2014)
Paschal Mooney: Yesterday I had intended to raise an issue, but I was unable to do so because time ran out. The issue was one that had received extensive coverage in the national media and related to the sequel to the death in Mullingar of Mr. Andrew Dolan from Carrick-on-Shannon. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. The case finally came to a conclusion yesterday, but serious issues arise from it which have...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: Fáilte Ireland: Chairperson Designate (14 May 2014)
Paschal Mooney: The Chairman has covered the essential elements. I welcome Mr. Cawley. Some of us were exercised by his name. The fact that his father was a detective sergeant would indicate that he was not from Cork. We were wondering if there was a Sligo connection.

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: Fáilte Ireland: Chairperson Designate (14 May 2014)
Paschal Mooney: It was reflected in Mr. Cawley's excellent presentation, which covered all the bases. I compliment him on it. I come from Drumshanbo, County Leitrim. In terms of tourist numbers, the north west has always been below the radar relative to other areas of the country. I fully understand that the consumer chooses. Should the separate roles of Fáilte Ireland and Tourism Ireland be...

Paschal Mooney: If I may ask a brief supplementary question, why would Mr. Christie be defensive about corporate subsidies? For example, various charities have vehicles sponsored by companies. Mr. Christie made reference to not having a sufficient number of Land Rovers.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: Mountain Rescue Services: Mountain Rescue Ireland (14 May 2014)
Paschal Mooney: Surely it would be a consideration for his organisation-----
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: Mountain Rescue Services: Mountain Rescue Ireland (14 May 2014)
Paschal Mooney: I ask the question in the context of Mr. Christie's emphasis on the lack of financial resources. Also, I was curious that church gate collections would be subject to VAT.

Paschal Mooney: I see. That is interesting.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: Mountain Rescue Services: Mountain Rescue Ireland (14 May 2014)
Paschal Mooney: I endorse the Chairman’s welcome. I believe I speak for everybody in saying that what Mountain Rescue Ireland does is valued. I do not believe it is at all undervalued. Anybody who is near a mountain range is aware of the existence of mountain search and rescue teams. I live in Drumshanbo, County Leitrim, where there is an annual church gate collection. I presume it happens...

Paschal Mooney: Once again, Senator, my apologies for interrupting you.
- Seanad: Order of Business (8 May 2014)
Paschal Mooney: I wish to make a point of order. While I empathise with the Deputy Leader in her dilemma on the motions, it was unacceptable to put those motions before the House without debate and treat the House with a certain contempt. If one cannot find a Minister of State to sit in supervision over a motion that comes from a House committee, then something is seriously wrong at the heart of Government.
- Seanad: Order of Business (8 May 2014)
Paschal Mooney: There is still no other business. The Deputy Leader could not find a Minister to give us any other business.
