Brendan Smith: The Pigmeat Recall Scheme is only open to primary and secondary processors of pigmeat, incorporated in Ireland. To date, my Department has paid a total of €17 million to primary processors and €34 million to secondary processors. In addition, a sum of €4.2 million has been paid to renderers for destruction of affected product.
