Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2023
Vote 13 - Office of Public Works
(22 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: Was any consideration given to another covered shelter on, say, the Kildare Street side of the campus?

Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2023
Vote 13 - Office of Public Works
(22 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: By "near", does Ms Collier mean on the campus near the main building or off the campus, in the public domain?

Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2023
Vote 13 - Office of Public Works
(22 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: Was there a subsequent request for another bike shelter to be built before this one was constructed?

Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2023
Vote 13 - Office of Public Works
(22 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: A much-lower-cost project, I would hope, would involve the existing bike shelters beside the security hut. I will get to the other security hut in a second. At the security hut here in Leinster House, there are freestanding bike stands. Was any consideration given to expanding this site and simply attaching a roof to the existing security hut, maybe at a fraction of the cost?

Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2023
Vote 13 - Office of Public Works
(22 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: On the Merrion Square side.

Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2023
Vote 13 - Office of Public Works
(22 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: It is in a great location for those in the National Gallery of Ireland visitor area. These visitors are getting great photographs of the shelter. With regard to the location chosen, I made inquiries in the Houses of the Oireachtas because we were not aware of what the excavation works entailed and how long they were going on. It materialised that there was a huge amount of time between...

Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2023
Vote 13 - Office of Public Works
(22 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: I welcome Mr. Conlon and all the other witnesses. Turning to the bike shelter for a few minutes, I do not know if Mr. Conlon saw anybody taking photographs with it on his way in. I say that in jest but I say it with a tinge of seriousness because I often see people, through the National Gallery fence, getting selfies with the bike shelter. That shows how serious the cost overruns on this...

Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation (17 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: That was in 2016.

Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation (17 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: Hear, hear.

Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Defence Forces (17 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: 7. To ask the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence the action he is taking in relation to recognition for officers in the Defence Forces who provide specialist instruction and training. [42024/24]

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (17 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: I thank the Comptroller and Auditor General's office for the report. I wish to ask about An Bord Pleanála because we have engaged with it before. The work programme may be a moot point at this stage, but it is incumbent on us as a committee to ensure that because of the reports that have been compiled on the issues relating to 2022, we have it in our sights for an engagement in the...

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (17 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: I thank the Leas-Chathaoirleach. The Comptroller and Auditor General's office refers to reports that have been compiled on issues in 2022 and onwards. Are those reports now complete and in the Comptroller and Auditor General's possession or what stage are they at? If the reports are published and completed, that has a bearing on how this committee proceeds.

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (17 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: I thank Ms Drinan for that. We have spoken to An Bord Pleanála before about the internal control report - the second report to which Ms Drinan referred. Allowing for the chairman to have sufficient time and also to ensure this committee is diligent in its work, I suggest that in within the first month or two of 2025 this committee would seek to engage with An Bord Pleanála on the...

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (17 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: I will come in on that particular piece of correspondence. As the Leas-Chathaoirleach rightly pointed out, the committee worked exceptionally hard on that report following on from the large engagement not only with RTÉ, but also with the other ancillary individuals and agencies. This is another item that needs to reoccur on our agenda as a committee. The committee was very firm about...

Written Answers — Department of Defence: Official Engagements (17 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: 22. To ask the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence if he will report on his recent attendance at the RACO Annual Conference. [42025/24]

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (15 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: I am sure the Taoiseach will have seen media reports of the high-profile case of Naveed Rana, a taxi driver who was jailed last week for five and a half years for repeatedly sexually assaulting a young woman he was driving home. At the time of the assault, Mr. Rana was reported to be out on bail for serious drug offences. Does the Taoiseach agree that it is completely unacceptable for...

Written Answers — Department of Finance: Departmental Strategies (15 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: 231. To ask the Minister for Finance for an update on the national payments strategy; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [41570/24]

Written Answers — Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection: Social Welfare Eligibility (15 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: 405. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection if time spent on a community employment scheme counts towards entitlement for fuel allowance and double payment benefits in circumstances in which an applicant has re-applied for jobseekers allowance; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [41344/24]

Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Ukraine War (10 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: 12. To ask the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade if Ireland is contributing to the World Bank IDA Crisis Facility Special Programme for Ukraine and Moldova; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [40326/24]

Public Accounts Committee: Financial Statements 2023: Land Development Agency (10 Oct 2024)

Cormac Devlin: I welcome our witnesses. I thank Mr. Coleman for his opening remarks. I will start by addressing Shanganagh Castle Estate. It is close to my own heart because, before my time as a TD, I was a councillor on Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. I know how long that site lay vacant. While there were several plans for it, it was not until the LDA took over the site – the first...
