- Public Accounts Committee: Financial Statements 2022: Road Safety Authority (27 Jun 2024)
Imelda Munster: Is that not fairly insane, given the waiting lists the length and breadth of the State? I want to move on to another issue - the apt term would be "another farce". People in Drogheda believe the RSA has deemed Drogheda not suitable for a driving test centre. It is the largest town in Ireland with a population of 45,000. Currently, under a northern environs plan, we are preparing for an...

- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: State Response to Online Disinformation and Media and Digital Literacy: Discussion (26 Jun 2024)
Imelda Munster: I will start with Mr. Hempenstall of the Department. Is he aware of any proposed legislative developments within the Department outside of what we are compelled to transpose via the EU directive and the Digital Services Act? Is he aware of any other legislation domestically?

- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: State Response to Online Disinformation and Media and Digital Literacy: Discussion (26 Jun 2024)
Imelda Munster: When we debated what became the Online Safety and Media Regulation, OSMR, Act, there was a reluctance, shall we say, to include disinformation in that. The argument made at the time was that the DSA would cover all aspects of that. Given that we have the headquarters of many of the companies here in this State and from a domestic point of view, if we did not have the DSA, we have no...
- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: State Response to Online Disinformation and Media and Digital Literacy: Discussion (26 Jun 2024)
Imelda Munster: My point is that we would be way behind the times if it were not for the DSA. Although we have these companies and their headquarters in this State, there were no initiatives from the Department or anyone else to look at a manner or means of regulating them. - Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: State Response to Online Disinformation and Media and Digital Literacy: Discussion (26 Jun 2024)
Imelda Munster: That answer is long-winded. To the best of his knowledge, Mr. Hempenstall is not aware that we made a particular submission, reference or recommendation. It would have been brought to his attention, I am sure in his position now, had we done so.
