GPO and Moore Street Regeneration as a 1916 Cultural Quarter: Motion [Private Members] (1 Jul 2025)

Louise O'Reilly: It is fair to say that on the watch of this Government O'Connell Street and the surrounding area have definitely been neglected. I am sick and tired of Government representatives giving out about Dublin city, running the capital down and hiding their jewellery when they walk down Talbot Street. We see them. The answer to how the Government treat O'Connell Street and the surrounding area...

GPO and Moore Street Regeneration as a 1916 Cultural Quarter: Motion [Private Members] (1 Jul 2025)

Louise O'Reilly: Absolutely. I am entitled to speak in this Chamber. I have a mandate just as Deputy McAuliffe does. I would appreciate if some time was added at the end for my colleagues for that rude interruption.

Transparency and Social Value in Public Procurement Bill 2024: Second Stage [Private Members] (26 Jun 2025)

Louise O'Reilly: There should be no difficulty there. I thank my colleague, an Teachta Farrell, for bringing forward this legislation. I also thank her, as the Minister of State did, for all her work on this issue. I cannot quite make sense of the Minister of State's amendment to postpone the Second Reading of the Bill for 24 months. I operate according to the principle that it is never the wrong time...

Legislative and Structural Reforms to Accelerate Housing Delivery: Motion [Private Members] (25 Jun 2025)

Louise O'Reilly: This morning the DNG report tells us that in Dublin the average cost of a second hand home is €600,000. I have a very simple question for the Minister of State. Who is buying these houses? Who is earning the money to pay 600 grand for a second-hand house in Dublin? People want to live near their family, which is not an outrageous thing to want. They want to live in the city they...

Select Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development: Social Welfare (Bereaved Partner's Pension) Bill 2025: Committee Stage (25 Jun 2025)

Louise O'Reilly: I suspect my amendments will also be ruled out of order. I know exactly how it works so I am not suggesting that the Minister was personally up all night with a red biro. That said, it is very regrettable that those amendments have been ruled out of order because they specifically relate to a group that will now be negatively affected. I respect the intention of this, which is to get rid...

Select Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development: Social Welfare (Bereaved Partner's Pension) Bill 2025: Committee Stage (25 Jun 2025)

Louise O'Reilly: I suggest that between now and when we next discuss this legislation, the Minister or his officials, or both, meet the organisations we have outlined, such as FLAC. I understand the Minister already met it previously. I ask him to work through these scenarios. He is outlining other schemes that might be available. They are all means-tested and we know this. I ask him to work through the...
