Shane Ross: That is fine. I am just trying to establish where the conflicts are and that Ms Feehily reject what he is saying.

Public Accounts Committee: Investigations by Revenue into Authorised Officers Report (4 Dec 2014)

Shane Ross: The authorised officer mentions in this report what he calls "the black briefcase", a secret ledger in the Ansbacher accounts story, which apparently has not been properly investigated. Does Ms Feehily wish to comment on that?

Public Accounts Committee: Investigations by Revenue into Authorised Officers Report (4 Dec 2014)

Shane Ross: Is Ms Feehily aware of what he is talking about - obviously this is not particularly confidential - when he talks about this black briefcase?

Public Accounts Committee: Investigations by Revenue into Authorised Officers Report (4 Dec 2014)

Shane Ross: I thank Ms Feehily for attending today at relatively short notice to address the issues that have come into the public domain in recent times. I also thank her for being as open as she feels she can be on this issue. I understand - and I believe the committee understands - the difficulties she has in addressing the issue because of the impositions and requirements of confidentiality on her...

Public Accounts Committee: Investigations by Revenue into Authorised Officers Report (4 Dec 2014)

Shane Ross: I will give her a flavour of it so that I can address the kinds of statements the authorised officer is making about what the Revenue and other State agencies did or did not do during this period of time. He refers to "the failure of various Ministers of the Government and agencies of the State, including the Revenue Commissioners, to permit and/or conduct a full investigation of these...

Public Accounts Committee: Investigations by Revenue into Authorised Officers Report (4 Dec 2014)

Shane Ross: The authorised officer simply stated that the Revenue Commissioners were grossly negligent and that there was not enough investigation by them. That is his view. As I said, this comes from a person with whom the Revenue Commissioners had a good relationship at one stage. When did that good relationship end?

Order of Business (3 Dec 2014)

Shane Ross: We are getting conflicting legal advice, which is confusing our remit enormously. It would be helpful if the Taoiseach allocated time for it. I will withdraw it from the lottery if the Taoiseach will give it time. Would that be fair?

Order of Business (3 Dec 2014)

Shane Ross: It is a serious question.

Order of Business (3 Dec 2014)

Shane Ross: If I withdraw it from the lottery, will the Taoiseach allocate time for it?

Shane Ross: Could I sit in on that committee's deliberations?

Order of Business (3 Dec 2014)

Shane Ross: Some chance.

Order of Business (3 Dec 2014)

Shane Ross: Prior to the summer recess I introduced a Bill to amend the powers and remit of the Committee of Public Accounts. In view of the fact that it has become a matter of greater controversy and that we are getting legal advice which is unwelcome and in conflict with other legal advice, I ask the Taoiseach to provide time for that Bill so that the members of the committee who are worried that our...

Order of Business (3 Dec 2014)

Shane Ross: Yes.

Order of Business (3 Dec 2014)

Shane Ross: It is hoped that it will be discussed. In the absence of its being drawn in the lottery - it is unlikely to be drawn - would the Taoiseach allocate time for it?
