Finian McGrath: I would like the issue to be treated from the Garda point of view in the broader criminal sphere rather than as an issue concerning women. I refer to violence against women, which is a crime. The Garda Síochána should be involved. We need legislation and support services but it involves a serious criminal aspect and requires a Garda response.
