Eoin Ó Broin: I am sorry. The November figures were buried in the middle of the RTÉ documentary on homelessness. There was not even a press release.

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Update on Rebuilding Ireland - Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness: Discussion (25 Jan 2018)
Eoin Ó Broin: I am not disputing that. All I am asking the Minister to do is to separate the long-term voids from the expensive re-lets because they are two different categories, and I believe it is an important distinction. It is very simple request.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Update on Rebuilding Ireland - Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness: Discussion (25 Jan 2018)
Eoin Ó Broin: I am suggesting the Minister would fund them exactly the same as is done now but that he would record them differently so we know what they are. I do not want to call it deception but I think this gives the wrong impression of what these units are. I accept there are standard turnarounds that are more expensive than the norm but that is a completely different category from a long-term...

Eoin Ó Broin: The Minister can claim the credit for that, and that is fine. I am just asking that he reports it accurately.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Update on Rebuilding Ireland - Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness: Discussion (25 Jan 2018)
Eoin Ó Broin: I do not accept that.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Update on Rebuilding Ireland - Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness: Discussion (25 Jan 2018)
Eoin Ó Broin: I do not accept that. There are two different categories. One is long-term voids that were out of stock for a long period and, because the Department was bringing them back in, it can legitimately count them as an addition to stock. There is another category where, for example, at the start of 2017 a property had a lifetime tenant and that tenant then moved out. The Minister is correct...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Update on Rebuilding Ireland - Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness: Discussion (25 Jan 2018)
Eoin Ó Broin: Just a very quick question. I am listening very carefully to the Minister's explanation of the affordable housing streams and how they interact. My question is a straightforward one. Given what the Minister has said, can he confirm that not a single affordable housing unit will be delivered this year through any of those schemes?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Update on Rebuilding Ireland - Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness: Discussion (25 Jan 2018)

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Update on Rebuilding Ireland - Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness: Discussion (25 Jan 2018)
Eoin Ó Broin: Which means that the Minister does not expect the completions to this year.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Update on Rebuilding Ireland - Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness: Discussion (25 Jan 2018)
Eoin Ó Broin: However, it is unlikely that anything will be completed this year, given that there is no construction on any of those sites.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Update on Rebuilding Ireland - Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness: Discussion (25 Jan 2018)
Eoin Ó Broin: Realistically, we are not looking at any of it being delivered this year. Some of it might start but, realistically, the Minister is saying that it will not be delivered this year.
- Report of the Joint Committee on the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution: Statements (Resumed) (24 Jan 2018)
Eoin Ó Broin: The first political campaign I was involved in was the referenda in 1992. I was the chair of the Irish Society in the University of East London and ourselves and the Women's Society decided that we would come over and play an active role in that campaign. We did so, obviously, because we had strong views that there should not be restrictions on the right to travel or the right to...
