Last week, I participated in the protest outside Leinster House against the cut of ¤325 to the respite care grant. At the protest were people in wheelchairs who are carers. Mary White: The sharp reduction in the income thresholds for the over 70s will cause hardship and further undermine the ability of older people who will lose their medical cards as a result of the immediate health care costs.
