Éamon Ó Cuív: This is getting to the nub of the mechanics of all of this. Dr. Cromie gave calving percentages, calving intervals and so on. He seems to indicate that about 40% of calves born to a herd would be females, that there is not a calf per cow per annum and that calving intervals are longer. Now, he says from year 1, the percentage will be 60%. That puts a very high bar.
